2010 Special exhibition „From Solferino to Guantanamo“

Battlefields from Solferino to Guantanamo

The exhibition from April to November 2010 at the Henry-Dunant  Museum showed documentation and pictures of ICRC operations in war and disaster zones of the last 140 years.

In the museum, the visitor is led directly into a world where poverty and misery, fatalism and unbridled hope is expressed. The pictures show what has been achieved since Dunant’s great idea. Even 100 years after his death, the humanitarian activities of the ICRC and local Red Cross societies are still essential.

Henry Dunant was convinced that there would be more wars in the future. These wars are carried out with more perfidious and brutal weapons and ammunition. That was the foundation stone for the world’s largest and best-known organization, the Red Cross.
